The Maldives, one of the world’s most romantic destinations, offers couples a perfect paradise getaway, with white sand beach islands surrounded by the Indian Ocean’s swaying palms and crystal clear blue waters. Spanning across 90,00km, of which less than 1% is land, the best time to visit the Island Nation is December to April, coinciding with the dry season.

In the Maldives, couples have the opportunity to treat each other to once-in-a-lifetime experiences, from a champagne picnic on an uninhabited island, or a blindfolded dinner on the beach, to pampering spa treatments or action-packed underwater experiences.

2016 is an exciting year to visit the Maldives, with the opening of a number of new and exciting facilities, activities and resorts:

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru has recently unveiled a new ‘floating’ overwater pavilion that elevates the beach wedding concept and allows the bridal couple and up to 24 guests to celebrate their marriage above the endless beauty of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve ocean.

Also opening in 2016, resorts such as OZEN by Atmosphere and Finolhu will offer guests optimum luxury and decadence during their stay in the Maldives. Whilst the exclusive five-star property of OZEN by Atmosphere, located on Maadhoo Island and opening its doors on 15 July 2016, houses an underwater restaurant, diving facilities and spa treatments, Finolhu’s surrounding natural environment is the inspiration for its fitness activities, ranging from a yoga pavilion and outdoor ‘jungle gym’ to ballet and kickboxing and various water sports. When the resort opens this summer, it will also include a relaxation area overlooking the beach, with steam/sauna and wellness areas.
